As per News 18, she said this is an unusual case where an actor is also seen as a political leader and a candidate. Because of this, the question has arisen whether permission from the Election Commission is required before releasing the film during the election period. She added that such a situation has never happened before, so a proper decision is needed. Archana Patnaik also stated that the Election Commission will be consulted before giving a final answer. She explained that when the model code of conduct is active, any action related to a political candidate must be checked carefully. Since 'Jana Nayagan' involves a well-known actor who is also active in politics, the ECI will review the matter and provide clear guidelines soon. Until then, no final decision has been made regarding the release.Earlier, the film’s release was postponed after issues with the censor board.
