Even though many big films came in strong for Pongal, ‘Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil’ made a hat trick entry in an underdog manner. Released with limited expectations, the
Jiiva starrer surprisingly struck a chord and went on to be the talk of the town in terms of word of mouth. The film’s success in getting appreciated by the family audience made it a notable winner at the box office this Pongal season.
'TTT' Hindi remake confirmed
As the film sustains its successful screening across theaters, Kannan Ravi, the producer, has stated that 'Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil' will be officially remade in Hindi. Addressing the motive behind it, he stated that the film’s real-appealing comedy and strong family-emotionalism have a universal touch to attract the audience, regardless of the language. They report that the initial stage has already started, which is the process of bringing in the team members for the Hindi version. The producers are having discussions regarding the cast and crew. An official statement on the Hindi association is likely to come out later on once the talks end.
Jiiva’s long-awaited comeback pays off
Released in theaters as a Pongal gift on January 15, 'Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil' is being described as delivering a timely comeback vehicle for Jiiva after a long hiatus of almost a decade. When the actor was hoping to make some welcome come back with a good success, he had a welcomed success in the form of this film. The film’s straight narrative, realistic actors, and Jiiva’s well underplayed performance in the film appealed to the viewers and critics alike, and the film had a lengthy run.
'TTT' stands tall amid stiff Pongal competition
During this Pongal season, two major films, one starring Sivakarthikeyan and the other featuring Karthi, came out, of which "Parasakthi" was said to rule the box office. Nevertheless, "Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil" had a decent audience base and was rated generally well by most movie critics. A great number of commentators awarded it the title of "Pongal winner," emphasizing that the film was able to connect on an emotional level with the viewers because of its realistic-situated humor, which also took a backseat when compared to the big-scale spectacle.
