‘Karathey Babu’ teaser: Ravi Mohan starrer unveils dark and dangerous side of politics

After delivering ‘Parasakthi’, Ravi Mohan has stepped into his next venture. The actor plays the lead role in ‘Karathey Babu’, a political drama. While the audience was eagerly waiting for an update, the makers dropped the highly anticipated teaser on Saturday, January 24.

The teaser features Ravi Mohan as Shanmugha Babu, aka Karathey Babu, a member of the legislative assembly in the state. The teaser opens with a heated debate by the opposition parties at the State Assembly.

"Politics is your livelihood, but it is my job," Ravi Mohan’s character says in the teaser. The glimpse showcases the dark, and gritty side of politics. Following the death of a leader, chaos erupts. Ravi Mohan is seen in an intense avatar in the teaser.

‘Karathey Babu’ is written and directed by Ganesh K Babu, who has earlier delivered ‘Dada’ with Kavin. Starring Ravi Mohan, the film also has actors Daudee S Jiwal, Shakthi Vasudevan, KS Ravi Kumar, Nasser, Kaali Venkat, VTV Ganesh, Subramaniam Siva, Kavithalayaa Krishnan, Pradeep Antony, Raja Rani Pandian, Sandeep Raj, Knife Naren, Vj Ashiq, Sindhupriya, Ajith Gosh, Aravindh, Kalki Raja, Sri Dhanya, Anandhi, Ilan, Sam Anderson, Vetrivel, Nandhini Senthamizh, and others.

On the technical side, the film’s cinematography is done by Ezhil Arasu K. Kathiresh Alagesan is the editor. Sam CS is in charge of the music department. The teaser hints that an intense political drama is going to unfold in the theatres. Meanwhile, ZEE5 has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film. The maker has confirmed that ‘Karathey Babu’ is a summer 2026 release. However, the release date is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ravi Mohan’s recent outing is ‘Parasakthi’. He essayed a pivotal role in the Sudha Kongara directorial. The film has Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role.
