‘Lockdown’: Sasikumar–Ameer applaud Anupama Parameswaran starrer, socially powerful film opens well
Anupama Parameswaran's socially impactful film 'Lockdown' has finally released after numerous delays, earning praise from directors Sasikumar and Ameer. They lauded the movie as essential viewing for women and society, highlighting its focus on family relations and social responsibilities. The film's journey from debut project to a recognized relevant cinema is now complete.
'Lockdown', directed by debutant A.R. Jeeva with Anupama Parameswaran, is making headlines for its release. The movie also stars Charlie, Nirosha, and some of the foremost music composers N.R. Raghunandan and Siddharth Vipin. The film was initially screened at the International Film Festival of India, IFFI, in Goa last year. It drew excellent audience response and was released today (January 30) in major theatres across the country after many delivery setbacks. Amidst all this, the most significant development has been the star-studded endorsements from director Sasikumar and Ameer, whose quotes have now taken centrestage for the film.

Sasikumar and Ameer’s words give the film a powerful social identity

After watching the special screening, director Ameer described the film as socially essential, saying, “This is a film society needs. Adolescent girls, students, and working women, everyone must watch this film.” His statement not only positioned the Lockdown as a movie, but also looked like an awareness. The response by Sasikumar gave the movie an emotional touch. He said, “After watching this movie, it comes naturally for women to talk to their parents about everything.
” Their statements stress the importance of emotion in the movie. Apart from discussing and liking the movie, they positioned the Lockdown movie as an awareness, discussion, and approach towards sensitive things in the right way.

A film that overcame delays and obstacles

‘Lockdown’ was supposed to be released on the 5th of December, but due to rain, posters, and other unforeseen reasons, it has been rescheduled to be shown on the 12th of November. I guess the good thing with this film being a couple of times is that each delay is built to make people wait even more. Today is the 30th of January, the film is being shown in a cinema house, and everyone is both surprised and relieved.

From debut film to socially relevant cinema

Today, 'Lockdown' is not an ordinary film by a debutant. Backed up by legendary directors like Sasikumar and Ameer, this film gets a brand new identity as a socially accepted and relevant film. With their endorsement, the film gets a genuine, mature, and real source of entertainment. The film turned out to be a film on women, family relations, and social responsibilities.
