Quote of the Day by Rajinikanth: ‘There is nothing wrong in dreaming a luxurious life. What needs to be taken care of is not let need become greed; needs can always be met, but greed can never be fulfilled’
Superstar Rajinikanth is one of the most illustrious figures in Indian cinema. When words like mass appeal, stardom, longevity, versatility across multiple languages, and wisdom come to mind, Rajinikanth is undoubtedly one of the first names that pop out of your head. The actor, who has been in the industry for over 50 years, is known for the many lessons he has shared. One of them that stands out is his take on what greed is and what need is.
Rajinikanth is not suggesting that one should leave all our ambitions or live like a monk but means that having a luxurious life is completely fine. What lies at the centrepiece is the distinction between need and greed.
Taking a much deeper meaning into his line is that “need” is something that, when you reach there, you can rest and enjoy. However, when things turn into “greed,” it is something that has no stopping point. The second one achieves what they wanted, greed makes them feel perpetually dissatisfied and wanting more.
