Sivakarthikeyan breaks silence on 'Jana Nayagan' and 'Parasakthi' Pongal face-off, clears his stance, calls it ‘Anna–Thambi Pongal’
Director Sudha Kongara’s ‘Parasakthi’, starring Sivakarthikeyan, along with supporting actors Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa Murali, and Sreeleela, is set to be all excitement as it is set against the political and cultural backdrop of the 1960s. The film possesses an intriguing and emotional plot that is music scored, with GV Prakash Kumar composing it for his 100th film while Parasakthi is also the 25th film in a lead role for Sivakarthikeyan. Due to be released worldwide on January 10 with much hype and anticipation, the film has already gained interest for the fact that it is also being released alongside another big Tamil release over the previous Pongal season.

Sivakarthikeyan calls 'Parasakthi' a tribute

Speaking at the extravagant audio launch of the film in Chennai, Sivakarthikeyan stressed the emotional intentions behind 'Parasakthi'. "It is a powerful title. Unique experience of time travelling to the 1960s. Students and youth are always strong, don’t get me wrong, but Parasakthi does not target any particular person, thought, or community. 'Parasakthi' respects people who have sacrificed something real for the country and for the language, so that generations to come would finally have the freedom to live.
It is a respectful homage deeply inspiring the audience!" he said.

He revealed that an earlier release plan was altered once Jana Nayagan’s schedule was announced. Even after 'Parasakthi' fixed January as its release window, 'Jana Nayagan' was later confirmed for the same festive period. Sivakarthikeyan expressed that he proceeded to discuss with the team to look at possible options for changing the dates although it was difficult considering the circumstances involved and time. As an artist, accepting the decision, he highlighted the need for clarity and understanding in such instances.

Sivakarthikeyan urges fans to celebrate both films

Sivakarthikeyan further explained that he called Vijay’s team himself and expressed the concern, especially since 'Jana Nayagan' is being positioned as Vijay’s swansong. Sivakarthikeyan said he was told that there were no hard feelings and Vijay sent his regards. “Please don’t listen to unnecessary rumors and negativity, guys, and let’s all be happy and enjoy ‘Jana Nayagan’ on Jan 9 and ‘Parasakthi’ the next day. Anna-Thambi Pongal, guys! It’s gonna be a big celebration for Tamil cinema!” said Sivakarthikeyan.
