Tamil cinema has reached heights: Mysskin

Director Mysskin, whose back-to-back films were critically acclaimed, talks to TOI about his future projects
Tamil cinema has reached heights: Mysskin
The fact that the release of his films gets delayed hasnt affected Mysskin even slightly. Thats because the director is sure that his films will strike a chord with the audience irrespective of when it hits screens.
After the criticially-acclaimed Nandalala and Yuddham Sei, Mysskin is now concentrating on his next two projects one in Tamil and the other in Hindi with Arya and John Abraham respectively.
1x1 polls

I had pinned a lot of hope on the audience and they havent let me down. By patronising films in different genres, they have proved that theres nothing called A, B and C centres. My last film didnt have a comedy track, and the hero didnt break into a song-and-dance routine every ten minute! But, the audience still liked the film. This has given me hope that Tamil cinema has reached new heights in the last few months, he begins
Mysskins films have always concentrated on sensitive and dark issues. Ask the director if he chooses film as a medium to drive home a message and he states, Im a filmmaker and my duty is to entertain the audience. If Ive managed to keep them entertained and made them think about the plight of the society at the same time, Ive achieved my target. But no, I dont deliberately preach through my films. My job is to tell stories.
The filmmaker may have received compliments from many people in the industry for Yuddham Sei, but he cherishes director Shankars comments the most. Ive received appreciation from many, including Superstar Rajinikanth. But, I was touched when director Shankar spoke to me for close to an hour after watching it. He told me that I should stick to the path that I had chosen in the industry. He didnt have to call or wish me, but he still did. He spoke from his heart, told me which scenes worked for him and areas where I could have improved, he states.

The director has now left his Yuddham Sei days behind. Ive just finished the bound script for the film that will mark my debut in Bollywood. It will be a pan-Indian film and will touch upon the issues concerning India and Pakistan. But, its definitely not military-based. The film will record the events that occur in 12 hours. The film requires two strong protagonists, stronger than Narain and Ajmal in Anjathey. Weve finalised John Abraham for one of the roles and are on the hunt for the second hero. Im also planning to start work on Mugamoodi with Arya. I will decide which movie to first start work on by the end of this month, he informs.
