Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ crosses Rs.15 crore in advance bookings a week before release

The highly anticipated upcoming movie 'Jana Nayagan', starring Thalapathy Vijay, has begun its box-office journey on a powerful note. This movie is Vijay’s final on-screen appearance before he commits to full-time politics. With advance bookings opening selectively, the movie has recorded impressive early numbers.The movie is set to hit the theaters on January 9, 2026.

Advance bookings show strong momentum worldwide

According to Cinema Express. 'Jana Nayagan' has clocked nearly Rs 15 crore in worldwide advance bookings with a full week still to go. In India, only selected theatres across Kerala and Karnataka have begun selling the tickets, and the movie has collected around Rs 3 crore till date. Trade expects a significant jump once advance booking opens across Tamil Nadu and other key domestic markets.


Internationally, the buzz appears even stronger. Opening-day pre-sales alone have brought in approximately Rs 11–12 crore, driven largely by North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia. With global booking yet to open fully, industry watchers believe the movie’s advance sales could see a sharp rise in the coming days.

Directed by H. Vinoth, 'Jana Nayagan' blends political themes with large- scale action. Vijay steps into the lead role with a character that blends power, conflict, and ideology. The movie has attracted attention not just for its storyline but also for its timing. For the fans it is the farewell to Vijay the actor before his political chapter begins.

A heavyweight cast

Alongside Vijay, the film stars Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, and Bobby Deol in key roles, along with Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Narain in important roles. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music , Sathyan Sooryan handled the cinematography and edited by Pradeep E Ragav.
