Kollywood's loveable jodis of 2021

The year 2021 gave some loveable jodis in Tamil cinema. We take a look at the eight cutest onscreen pairs who we saw in Kollywood films this year

2/9

Sivakarthikeyan and Priyanka Arul Mohan in Doctor

Chellamma Chellamma, they sang, and we all swayed. This fresh pairing did not have any major romantic moments in the film, save for the So Baby song. But even though she rejects him right at the start, we knew that Varun and Mini were made for each other. Obviously, they were semma jodi!

3/9

Vijay and Malavika Mohanan in Master

Despite their romance being a functional one, Vijay and Malavika Mohanan made us love this jodi with their sheer charm. Charu is the one who made JD turn over a new leaf and Andha Kanna Paathaakaa was more than enough to show us how terrific the two actors would be in a romcom.

4/9

Harish Kalyan and Priya Bhavanishankar in Oh Manapenne!

It is not easy to step into roles made memorable by Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma and still come out in flying colours. But Harish Kalyan and Priya Bhavanishankar did just that with this film. They even ensured that the emotional scenes are also as affecting as the comic and romantic moments between them.

5/9

Vijay Sethupathi and Regina Cassandra in Mugizh

While Mugizh was more about dealing with the loss of a loved one, it also gave us a loving couple in the form of Vijay and Radhika. Vijay Sethupathi and Regina Cassandra were super casual in playing this couple and turned them into almost real-life figures. From standing by each other while letting their daughter process her grief to admiring her from a distance, this couple showed what great marriages feel like.

6/9

Arya and Dushara Vijayan in Sarpatta Parambarai

From rocking the kuthu on their first night to getting angry with him for going down the wrong path and even fending off villain single-handedly, Mariyamma showed that if she hadn't been around, there wouldn't have been a Kabilan. This one was a raw and real jodi that we just can't ignore!

7/9

Kavin and Amritha Aiyer in Lift

What starts off as modhal turns into one cute office romance for Kavin and Amritha in this horror thriller. Admit it! You felt Guru was safe after Harini makes her entry into the haunted lift! Hey Bro, it was quite fun seeing the pair help out each other while battling ghosts, no?

8/9

Silambarasan TR and Kalyani Priyadarshan in Maanaadu

Yes, Silambarasan TR and SJ Suryah rocked with their chemistry, but Abdul Khaliq also had some cute moments with Seethalakshmi, who has a fear of flying. That one loop when Seethalakshmi gets all awestruck by Khaliq's ability to predict things was enough to show that these two stars were 'vibe-ing' very well.

9/9

Karthi and Rashmika Mandanna in Sulthan

Sulthan might be more of an action drama, but Karthi and Rashmika's chemistry was one of its highlights. After Paiyya, one got to see Karthi in loverboy mode, even if it was only a few minutes. And Rashmika — the National Crush — made a sparkling debut in Kollywood as fans went "yaarayum ivlo azhaga paakala".
