Post the success of SS Rajamouli, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati’s
Baahubali films , Telugu cinema has usually been associated with larger than life- big ticket spectacles like
Allu Arjun’s Pushpa franchise to Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD to Prashanth Neel’s Salaar; Part 1- Ceasefire to
Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s RRR and many more.
But Sai Marthand’s romantic film Little Hearts with Mouli Tanuj Prasanth and
Shivani Nagaram in the lead has not only stolen hearts but is also minting big money at the box office. Telugu superstar Nani who saw the film on Monday had taken to Twitter to write his view on the film, he wrote , “ What a breezy fun film #LittleHearts is. Laughed heartfully after long time. Akhil, Madhu, khathyayani ( am not sure too abt the spelling). You all made my day. I won’t say I love you but for now I will just say ‘Thank you’."
In six days the film has till now minted Rs13.65 crore at the box office. The film opened to a slow start with day 1 collection coming to Rs 1.35 crore. But the cinema magic happened on day 2 where the collections jumped by over 77 % and the collections reached Rs 2.40 crore and on the third day the collections spiked by 50 % to earn Rs 3.60 crore. On Monday the film collected Rs 2.30 crore, Tuesday witnessed a miniscule drop to collect Rs 2.25 crore and on Wednesday the film minted Rs 1.75 crore. The interesting point here is how on all three weekdays the film has outperformed it’s day 1 ( Friday ) collection by a margin. It is a rare phenomenon that such a thing has not for three days in a row.
The success of the film has not been limited to just Indian shores. In North America the film in six days has crossed USD 500,000 ( Rs 3.5 crore) and has has out performed films like Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharaasi ,
Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 and Anushka Shetty’s Ghaati with only
Dulquer Salmaan and
Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah: Chapter 1 -Chandra outperforming it amongst recent releases.
