5 Hollywood actors who starred In Telugu films

Telugu cinema has pushed its limits with each passing year and generation. Although it is nothing new to cast Hollywood actors in regional films Telugu cinema has started way back in 1987. To our surprise, a few Hollywood actors started their film careers with Telugu cinema.

One may ask why is that news now? The news is now because, most of the big Telugu film projects in recent times see Hollywood actors being cast in our films such as RRR, Nishabdham, Alexx O'Nell as Watson in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy to name a few. Casting Hollywood actors back to back in Telugu films has become a new trend in Tollywood which is creating vibrations in other Industries of the Indian cinema. Let’s have a look at some of them below.

Few of us already knew that #RRR the upcoming action period drama film being directed by S. S. Rajamouli has Olivia Morris playing Jennifer (the love interest of Tarak? in the film), Ray Stevenson, and Alison Doody playing the other important roles in the prestigious Ramarao, Ramcharan and Rajamouli Film.

We have also seen that the Nishabdham team has brought in the Kill Bill star for a powerful character in their film to play the ‘Richard Dickens’ (Police Captain of Seattle) in their movie that is directed by Hemant Madhukar of Mumbai 125 KM & Vastadu Naa Raju fame. We all knew that Michael Madsen has collaborated with Quentin Tarantino multiple times and is known for playing "charming, careless, terrifying bastards", who has starred in many films and television series in Hollywood.

An American actor and director known for appearing in Evening Raga of the West (1987), Boogie Nights (1997), Deep Blue Sea (1999) and, starring in the HBO series Hung (2009–2011) and several other films started his acting career with the Indian Telugu language film 'Padamati Sandhya Ragam (1987)', directed by Jandhyala.

Little John is a 2001 trilingual fantasy film written, co-produced, and directed by the legendary Telugu filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao that cast Bentley Mitchum an American actor who has appeared in more than 40 films and TV series in Hollywood was cast in Little John.

British actress Rachel was chosen to portray an American woman, and French child actor Esteban was cast as the surrogate child, in the Telugu remake of the Marathi Film ‘Welcome Obama’ by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao yet again.

These are just to name a few, Telugu films have often seen small-time American actors being cast for a variety of roles such as Judge, Chief-Officers, fighters & other important roles in various patriotic, crime & thriller genre films, In recent times most of the big star films saw foreign dancers dancing to the Telugu songs alongside our stars when the songs are being shot abroad.
