Allu Arjun has become one of the most bankable stars in the country after he rose to immense fame with the Sukumar directorial ‘Pushpa’ franchise. His last outing, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ saw a humongous run at the box office. Post its grand success, the actor now seems to have made a bold and smart money decision.
Percent deal instead of fixed salary
‘Pushpa 2’ ran strongly at the box office and collected close to Rs 1000 crore worldwide. After this success, Allu Arjun, instead of taking a fixed salary, reportedly has chosen a percentage-based payment model as per a post by The South Cinema on their X (formerly Twitter) handle.
For ‘Pushpa 2’, Allu Arjun took 27 percent of the total business of the film. This means he earned nearly 270 crore rupees from one movie. Usually, top stars take a big salary before release. Allu Arjun trusted the film and its performance. That trust paid off in a big way.
Why does this model help producers too?
It is suggested that this kind of deal reduces pressure on producers. When stars take fixed salaries, producers carry more risk. With a profit-sharing model, both the actor and the makers win together if the film becomes a hit. If the film fails, the loss is also shared. This creates balance and teamwork. Allu Arjun’s move is now being seen as a smart and modern way of working.
Atlee film and big projects ahead
Allu Arjun is currently working on the upcoming sci-fi film tentatively named ‘AA22xA6’ directed by Atlee. It is also suggested that Allu Arjun is following the same 27 to 30 percent deal for the film as well.
There’s a lot of anticipation for the project as it marks Atlee’s next film after Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’ and Allu Arjun’s, after fans saw him in the ‘Pushpa’ instalments. The movie also features Bollywood’s Deepika Padukone as the female lead and is also expected to include Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and others. However, the makers are yet to confirm.
Speaking of Allu Arjun’s upcoming work, he has signed projects with big directors in the industry, including one with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Trivikram Srinivas.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
