Adivi Sesh is promoting his upcoming love-revenge action drama ‘Dacoit’, which is set to hit the big screens on April 10. Earlier, the film was set to release on March 19, but the makers pushed the film to avoid a clash with Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ directed by
Aditya Dhar.
Adivi Sesh talks about change in ‘Dacoit’ release
Recently, Adivi Sesh shared that they had to change their plans of releasing the film during the Ugadi festival, according to a report by PTI. Adivi Sesh said, “We were going to release it on March 19 and for the South version the occasion of Ugadi, which is the Telugu new year is good. But we were not getting proper showcasing because of my friend, Aditya Dhar’s phenomenal ‘Dhurandhar’.”
Adivi Sesh also added, “We thought we should find the right showcasing and when we were confident from our distributors about the April 10 release date and getting theatres and screen timing, that is when we announced the (new) date.”
‘Dhurandhar’ compared to IPL
He also compared the success of ‘Dhurandhar’ to the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said some films become very big and affect culture. He said, “I think it (‘Dhurandhar’ running in theatres) will go on for another three-four months and should continue to run (in theatres). It’s like IPL, these things are like phenomena that influence the entire culture.” He also added, “However, there’s room for different kinds of cinema and those who are not getting tickets for ‘Dhurandhar’ can come and watch our film, ‘Dacoit’.”
