Dakhani actor Adnan Sajid Khan retires from Hyderabadi films; bids adieu to Gullu Dada character
There’s some bad news for Dakhani movie fans as filmmaker-actor Adnan Sajid Khan, popularly known for his character Gullu Dada, announced his retirement from films on Tuesday.
Penning a long note on social media, exactly fourteen years from the day his first film FM – Fun Aur Masti released on November 16, 2007, the actor revealed that he has considering giving up acting for a while now before making the official announcement. In the note he wrote, “I am a lucky actor from Hyderabad who has received love from everyone – children to mothers and sisters to elderly people. Your love and blessings stay with me as I quit films and concentrate on my restaurant business.”
He also reinstated the same by sharing a video for fans in which he states that he is retiring the character of Gullu Dada forever. “I do not want producers to face losses due to me; my last few films haven’t done well. So I have decided to quit Hyderabadi films. I will however remain active on social media apart from acting in Telugu feature films whenever I’m given the opportunity to. It breaks my heart but everything has to end someday,” he says in the video.
Last seen in Hyderabad Nawabs 2 and Maa Ka Laadla, fans will surely miss his trademark catchphrase “Aaainn!” He recently made his Hindi debut with Bolo Hau. It remains to be seen what the future has in store for the actor.
