Stepping foot into the showbiz world as the celebrity daughter of eminent filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, Alia was quick to carve a niche on the celluloid with her convincing performances and selection of versatile scripts. In an interesting seven-year-old film journey, the ravishing beauty appeared in close to 15 movies with most of them turning out to be profitable ventures at the box-office.

Besides romantic-dramas and commercial stuff like ‘2 States’, ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, Alia Bhatt beautifully balanced her repertoire by doing content-driven subjects like ‘Highway’, ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Raazi’ and ‘Gully Boy’. The Bhatt lass was born in the financial capital to Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and veteran actress Soni Razdan. While Mahesh Bhatt is of Gujarati descent, Alia’s mother belongs to Kashmiri and German ancestry. Besides elder sister Shaheen, the gorgeous starlet has two half-siblings namely Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt. Popular Hindi actor Emraan Hashmi and director Mohit Suri are her maternal cousins. Alia holds British citizenship and her maiden appearance on the silver screen was as a child artist in Sangharsh (1999), where she played the younger version of Preity Zinta.

Despite being a star kid, Alia Bhatt didn’t have it easy in the glamour arena. Though Karan Johar was like her fatherly figure, she had to compete among 400 odd girls in an audition to grab the heroine’s role in ‘Student of the Year’. On being classified as a happy person, Alia clarified that she is not always happy, bubbly, and chirrupy. “I'm a true Piscean. I have mood swings that are all over the place and I'm easily the moodiest person I know,”

Other than acting, Alia Bhatt owns hands-on experience in singing. She started her discography by crooning for "Sooha Saaha" in Highway (2014) and the film’s composer AR Rahman invited her to his music school to undergo training. From then on, she sang a handful of numbers in her own flicks like ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Dear Zindagi’. Alia is also a great artist at creating charcoal paintings. She designed her own clothing brand in 2014 for a popular online fashion portal and launched her own line of handbags for Asia’s largest luggage maker.

Presently busy with a bunch of big-ticket films like ‘Kalank’ and ‘Brahmastra’ opposite her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor, Alia eats three meals per day and doesn’t believe in the concept of eating every two hours. She consumes food whenever she’s hungry and listens to her body. Her diet plan includes nutrient-dense foods such as papaya, oatmeal, acai berries, and fresh salads.
