Top 5 films of Swathi Reddy that prove she is an extraordinary performer

The youngest actress of South Indian cinema who was making waves in the film circles with her performances is Swathi Reddy. Born on April 9, 1987, Swathi made her first appearance on the silver screen in a supporting role in 2005 Telugu film Danger. Before that, she was a successful television presenter. After presenting over 150 episodes, she became Colours Swati. She then made her Tamil debut in 2008 with Subramaniapuram which Jai, M Sasikumar, Samuthirakani and Ganja Karuppu in lead roles. She had been nominated, Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil for her portrayal of the village belle Thulasi. Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule

Swathi played the younger sister to Trisha Krishnan, Pooja in the Venkatesh Daggubati starrer. She falls in love with a man who is a litter older than her. Her elder sister Trisha is in equal measures, furious, horrified, embarrassed, ashamed, desperate and jealous. She was very wary at the time, saying that the age difference was too much and she was worried that she would regret it later. She brushed all this off as her sister was blindingly in love. Even though she is not the leading lady of the movie, it was her performance in Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule that was widely appreciated by the audience and critics.

Ashta Chamma

Swathi’s aunt wants her to get married to an NRI. But she is in love with a famous Tollywood actor, Mahesh Babu, and as a compromise, she agrees to marry if the name of her of the person she marries is Mahesh. Playing the role of Lavanya in the film, Swathi left a long-lasting impact on Telugu movie buffs with her performance in the movie and also made other filmmakers take notice of her capabilities. She also won Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu and Nandi Award for Best Actress for performance in the film.

Golconda High School

Swati teamed up with Sumanth in Golconda High School which released in 2011 and received a decent response from audiences and critics. She played the role of an English teacher Anjali and critics hailed her for her maturity in the role, and the young actress was widely appreciated. The story of the movie revolves around the Golkonda High School, which is in danger of losing its playground as the Trustees have different plans for it. The school can keep its ground only if their cricket team wins the AP level league tournament.

Swamy Ra Ra

A group of three friends Surya, Bhanu and Ravi are petty thieves who get hold of a stolen gold Lord Ganesh idol that is worth INR 100 million. They are soon chased by goons who are looking for an idol. Swati plays the role of a journalist Swati who falls in love with a small-time thief essayed by Nikhil in the film. Swati and Nikhil’s pairing in the movie was widely appreciated by the audience, and Swati proved that she is not just an actress and is a performer too. The film marks the directorial debut of Sudheer Varma, who later helmed Dohchay, Keshava and Ranarangam.

Karthikeya

Swati and Nikhil had collaborated again for Chandoo Mondeti’s Karthikeya. It tells the story of a medical student, Karthikeya who visits Subramanyapuram for a medical camp. However, when he learns about the mystery surrounding the temple of Kumara Swami, he decides to investigate into it. With a gripping and relevant storyline and remarkable performances, the film went on to become one of the most successful films of the year and Swati’s portrayal as a young medico was hailed by the audience and the critics alike.
