Nag Ashwin’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ turned out to be one of the biggest films in 2024 starring Prabhas. The movie was released almost one and a half years ago and fans have been eagerly waiting for the second part of the mythological sci-fi film. Now latest reports suggest an update regarding the film’s shoot.

Reports hint at shoot starting in 2026

According to Aakashavaani, it is suggested that the sequel to the film, ‘Kalki 2898 AD Part 2’, is likely to go on floors in February 2026. It is imperative to mention that the makers have yet to make any official announcement regarding it.

Prabhas busy with multiple big projects

Speaking of the leading man, Prabhas, is currently occupied with multiple projects. He is shooting Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s cop-action drama ‘Spirit’. He is also working with ‘Sita Raman’ director Hanu Raghavapudi on their upcoming movie ‘Fauzi’. With the actor already involved in multiple big projects, the team of ‘Kalki 2’ is planning the schedule carefully. Once Prabhas completes his current work, the sequel is expected to begin.

Deepika Padukone exits the sequel

The sequel has also been in the news because of casting changes. Bollywood’s Deepika Padukone, who played the important role of Sumathi or Sum-80, designated as the prophesied mother of Kalki, the divine savior, was rescued by Ashwatthama from Project K's dark agenda in the first part.
She is no longer part of the sequel. Reports say she stepped away due to creative differences. The makers later confirmed that she has exited the project. The first part of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ had a powerful cast, including veteran stars Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan and also featured Disha Patani.Prabhas will further work on another much-awaited sequel, ‘Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam’, directed by Prashanth Neel.
