The production of Kannappa was a decade-long dream project for Vishnu Manchu, who also wrote the screenplay.
Kannappa's production spanned nearly a decade from initial concept to release. The film was officially launched in August 2023 and shot primarily in New Zealand. The screenplay was developed by Vishnu Manchu with contributions from several prominent writers, including Paruchuri Gopala Krishna and V. Vijayendra Prasad. The film’s music and background score were composed by Stephen Devassy.
Running over three hours, Kannappa blends mythological storytelling with action and drama, aiming to visually and emotionally captivate audiences.
