Popular technician Kola Bhaskar who has edited several Telugu and Tamil films like ‘
Kushi’, ‘7G Rainbow Colony’, ‘Pokkiri’ and ‘Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule’ has breathed his last on Wednesday morning. He has been suffering from oral cancer for quite some time and passed away in Hyderabad while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. He is 55.
Born in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, Kola Bhaskar made his debut as a Film Editor with Pawan Kalyan’s Kushi in 2001. However, he acquired fame with a queue of superhit Tamil films like ‘7G Rainbow Colony’, ‘Pokkiri’, ‘Pudhupettai’, ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ (Yuganiki Okkadu), ‘Irandaam Ulagam’, etc. His second and last Telugu film was ‘Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule’ in 2007.
Kola Bhaskar has collaborated with Tamil director
Selvaraghavan for as many as six films. In 2016, he turned into a producer and introduced his son
Balakrishna Kola as the protagonist with ‘Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam,’ dubbed into Telugu as ‘Nannu Vadili Neevu Polevule.’ The romantic drama was the directorial debut of Selvaragavan’s wife Gitanjali.
During one of his interviews, Selvaraghavan described Kola as one of the most underrated editors of Indian cinema.
