Director
Prashanth Neel and
Jr NTR are working together on the big action film ‘Dragon’. On Jr NTR’s birthday, the makers released the title teaser and introduced him as an assassin named Luger. The film is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects and recently, the directors shared they spent nearly three-and-a-half years discussing and shaping it.
In a conversation with Gallata Plus, Prashanth Neel said they spent nearly three-and-a-half years discussing and shaping the film before starting the shoot. He revealed that Jr NTR used to discuss many scenes and shots with him during the writing stage itself.
“We have been writing this drama together for at least three and a half years before starting the film. He used to discuss so many shots with me, and that gave me a lot of confidence,” Prashanth said.
Prashanth Neel calls Jr NTR ‘extremely intelligent’
Prashanth Neel praised Jr NTR’s understanding of cinema and acting. He said the actor watches world cinema and understands characters deeply. According to him, Jr NTR already knew how the role of Luger had to be played.
“He watches world cinema and knows exactly how a character needs to be played. I wanted him to do something different, and that is exactly what he delivered,” he shared.
The director also compared Jr NTR’s energy to a “nuclear plant.”
He said the actor brings powerful energy wherever he goes and is fully passionate about films and storytelling.
Jr NTR not worried about mass image
Prashanth Neel also revealed that Jr NTR never focused on his mass hero image while doing ‘Dragon’. He said the actor only cared about the story and drama. “He knows the mass moments will come naturally with the drama,” the filmmaker explained. The director added that working with the ‘RRR’ actor changed the way he looked at storytelling and made him focus more deeply on the story.
‘Dragon’ also stars Anil Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Rukmini Vasanth and Biju Menon in important roles.
