Tollywood's rising music composers to watch out for

In all these years of filmmaking, there is no denying the fact that music plays an important role in breathing life into a story. Apart from putting words into tunes that speak to the heart, these scores also have the power to fan emotions of despair, anger, romance and joy during films.

There silently working their magic behind the scenes are music directors who with their tunes, captivate the audience's sences. There are many such talented music directors in the Telugu film industry and we take a look at some of the rising stars you should look out for.

Shakthikanth Karthick

It’s impossible to imagine Sai Pallavi starrer ‘Fidaa’ without the music of Shakthi Kanth Karthick, who lured people into the world of music. In 2017, the film’s music was number one on the music charts. Although there were many hit soundtracks in the year, the song 'Vachinde' was a phenomenon. Composed by Shakthi Kanth, the catchy number clocked over 12. 9 million views on YouTube, attaining the number one position as the most-viewed Telugu song on the video-sharing platform. Shakthi made his debut with the 2012 film ‘Ko Ante Koti’, and later composed tunes for the Ravi Teja starrer ‘Nela Ticket’ and will soon be scoring for the upcoming venture ‘Happy Wedding’.

Gopi Sunder

After entertaining Keralite listeners, noted Malayalam music composer made his debut in the film industry with the 2015 film ‘Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju’, starring Sharwanand and Nithya Menen in lead roles. The response to his music was wonderful and he went on to compose tracks for the films like ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’, ‘Majnu’, ‘Premam’, and ‘Ninnu Kori’. He has some interesting projects in his kitty which include ‘Tej I Love You’ and ‘Pantham’.

Vivek Sagar

If you remember the film ‘Pelli Choopulu’, which was released in 2016, you are aware of its composer Vivek Sagar whose music still resonates with fans. He has composed music for films such as the Naga Chaitanya starrer ‘Yuddham Sharanam’ and the Sudheer Babu starrer ‘Sammohanam’. After two years, Vivek and director Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam teamed up for a comedy-drama ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi’ in which he maintained his style of composition but still managed to make it different from his other albums.

Hiphop Tamizha

When the audio of the Ram Charan-starrer ‘Dhruva’ was released in 2016, people didn’t expect such a stellar work of composition from a debutant music director. His music not only filled the city streets but was reportedly one of the reasons why people rushed to the theatres to catch the songs on the big screen with its dramatic scenes. He has collaborated with the director Merlapaka Gandhi for a romantic action entertainer ‘Krishnarjuna Yudham’, starring Nani.

Harshavardhan Rameshwar

‘Arjun Reddy’ was his first film for music composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar and he was lauded for his work on the Vijay Devarakonda starrer. The film’s music had a lasting effect on fans who were left wanting more. His songs are still played across Telugu states and fans will be happy to know that he is coming back with more music for films like ‘Saakshyam’ and ‘Vijetha’.
