Koratala Siva: 4 best films of the ace director

Koratala Siva is one of the famous directors working in Tollywood today. Even though he is just four films old, he has been considered as one of the most acclaimed and respected directors in the Telugu film industry. In fact, he worked as a screenwriter for films such as ‘Girl Friend’, ‘Bhadra’, ‘Munna’, ‘Okkadunnadu’, ‘Simha’, ‘Brindavanam’, and ‘Oosaravelli’ before becoming a director. His successful works in these films paved way for him to catch the megaphone and sit in the director’s seat to tackle the films. Almost all of his films are considered amongst the blockbuster hits. On his 43rd birthday, here are 4 best works of the ace director:

2/5

Mirchi

‘Mirchi’ marked the directorial debut of Koratala Siva. The 2013 film featured Prabhas, Sathyaraj, Anushka Shetty, Richa Gangopadhyay, Nadhiya, Sampath Raj, Brahmanandam and Subbaraju in lead roles and is often regarded as one of the blockbuster commercial hits in Tollywood. Upon release, the Prabhas starrer emerged as a runaway hit at the box office, earning tremendous critical acclaim. Though story falls flat from the routine lanes, Siva’s gripping style of story narration and sharp-edge screenplay made it to the blockbuster status. And ‘Mirchi’ strengthened the market of Prabhas and it has helped in hiking the remuneration of his next flick ‘Baahubali’ to be directed by SS Rajamouli.

3/5

Srimanthudu

The 2015 film featured an ensemble cast led by Mahesh Babu and Jagapathi Babu. It’s safe to say that Mahesh Babu and Shruti Haasan were the obvious scene stealers in the film and cinemagoers appreciated the amazing filmmaking by Koratala Siva. As Mahesh Babu is known as the raw charm, he steals the show all the way even though there is gorgeous Shruti Haasan. Based on the concept of village adaptation, ‘Srimanthudu’ is perhaps best remembered for its stellar performances and the right amount of filmmaking ingredients by Siva. The movie proved to be a commercial and critical success in the career of Koratala Siva.

4/5

Janatha Garage

Considered one of Jr NTR’s best performances to date, 'Janatha Garage'. based on the concept of helping people from local hooligans, redefined commercial cinema and went on to become the highest grosser of Telugu industry that year. Be it the dialogues or songs or direction or acting, the Koratala Siva directorial became a rage upon release. The highlight of the film is the scene between Jr NTR and local hooligans in the government office. The movie did well at the box office and its music, by Devi Sri Prasad, did exceedingly well. This film also marks the third collaboration of Koratala Siva and Devi Sri Prasad.

5/5

Bharat Ane Nenu

Probably one of the greatest political dramas of Tollywood and definitely the best commercial hits of 2018, the film features Mahesh Babu, Kiara Advani, Prakash Raj and Devaraj in lead roles. This intense political drama has been applauded for highlighting how politics tend to have a devastating impact on the current system. As this was the second time collaboration of Mahesh Babu and Koratala Siva, ‘Srimanthudu’ created quite a buzz among movie buffs upon its release. The film was politically oriented, which showcased how a young chief minister activities changed the lives of the people in the society. ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ happens to be the last release of Koratala Siva and fourth-time collaboration with Devi Sri Prasad consecutively.
