Maharani Gayatri Devi’s granddaughter

Every Bengalee is well aware of her family legacy which comes from the iconic actress late Suchitra Sen. But, how many of you know Raima Sen has a connection with Maharani Gayatri Devi also? Raima’s father Bharat Dev Varma belongs to the royal family of Cooch Behar and his mother Ila Devi was actually the elder sister of Jaipur's queen Gayatri Devi. No wonder, she is a classic beauty!

Cute, adorable nicknames

When you are from a typical Bengali family, you have to have a cute nickname and you are quite famous in that name in your family, para, and even friends. For Raima, she has several nicknames. Though her official nickname is Dolu, those who are close to Raima would call her Dolls, Dollzie or Dolly. Even in her work front, co-actors and friends tease her with pet name. Produced a film

From the very beginning of her career, Raima Sen worked in so many hit movies directed by Rituporno Ghosh, Koushik Ganguly, Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Zoya Akhtar and others. But, it not ends here. She has even co-produced a movie with his co-star and close friend Parambrata Chatterjee and director Suman Ghosh titled 'Mi Amor'. It’s the first Bengali film to be entirely shot in Miami and also the first to release exclusively online.

Could have played Suchitra Sen in Mahanayak

Initially, Raima Sen was offered to enact the role of her grandmother and legendary actress Suchitra Sen in Birsha Dasgupta's immensely popular series 'Mahanayak'. But she rejected the offer due to a date clash with another project. However, there are reports that the adorable face of Bengali cinema will only essay her grandmother’s role if it is made for the big screen.

Never reads the entire script

Yes, it’s not a secret to the directors and actors who have worked with her. Raima has a unique habit of not reading the entire script; she just goes through her portion only. There is a rumoured incident that still keeps the industry laughing. It happened when Srijit Mukherjee found her tearing down the pages from 'Baishe Srabon' script. Srijit was furious and wanted to burn the pages of the same. Since then Raima reportedly only skips the scenes with a simple 'bye'.

Raima Sen worked with Rituporno Ghosh on several occasions, but very few know she actually shared a great emotional bonding with the award-winning director. Rituparno used to treat her like his own daughter. During an interview, once Prosenjit Chatterjee, one of Raima’s favourite co-actors, revealed whenever the actress speaks about the late director, she becomes pretty emotional.
