The report also mentions that due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, the ceremony was restricted to just family and close friends. Moreover, the wedding date has been finalized and will be a family affair as well. Khatija Rahman made her singing debut in films with her father’s composition "O Maramanishi/Puthiya Manidha" in ‘Robo’ alongside the legendary SP. Balasubramanyam and his father AR Rahman directed by Shankar Shanmugam starring Rajnikanth. She was reportedly only 14 when she sang the song.

Rahman is happily married to Saira Banu and they are blessed with two daughters, namely Khatija,

For her engagement ceremony, Khatija decked up in a pretty pink ensemble. She also sported a beautiful maang-tikka, mehendi and a matching face mask. While Khatija shared a picture from her engagement ceremony, Riyasdeen Mohamed Shaik avoided the same.

Announcing her engagement on social media, Khatija had shared, “With the blessings of the Almighty I’m happy to announce to you all my engagement with Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed @riyasdeenriyan, an aspiring entrepreneur and a wizkid audio engineer. The engagement happened on 29th December, my birthday in the presence of close family and loved ones.” While Riyasdeen had posted, “With the blessings of the Almighty I’m happy to announce to you all my engagement with Khatija Rahman, @khatija.rahman musician, producer & philanthropist. The engagement happened on 29th December, on her birthday in the presence of close family and loved ones.”

Riyasdeen describes himself as a Live Sound Engineer on Instagram. It seems like he has collaborated with AR Rahman and Amit Trivedi on several international tours and concerts. Khatija had proudly described him as ‘an aspiring entrepreneur and a wizkid audio engineer'. Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed has over 5k followers on Instagram and his profile offers a glimpse of his passion for sound engineering.

Last year, writer Taslima Nasreen had commented on Khatija’s decision to wear a burqa and tweeted, “I absolutely love A R Rahman's music. But whenever i see his dear daughter, i feel suffocated. It is really depressing to learn that even an educated women in a cultural family can get brainwashed very easily!” Replying to her, Khatija wrote, “Dear Taslima Nasreen, I’m sorry you feel suffocated by my attire. Please get some fresh air, cause I don’t feel suffocated rather I’m proud and empowered for what I stand for. I suggest you google up what true feminism means because it isn’t bashing other women down nor bringing their fathers into the issue. I also don’t recall sending my photos to you for your perusal.”
