Losing jewellery while travelling is stressful enough. Losing a gold ring inside a moving train’s toilet drain? Most people would probably assume it’s gone forever.


But that’s exactly where one passenger’s expensive gold ring ended up during a journey on the Bandra Terminus–Bhuj Special train — and what happened next has now gone viral online.


According to details shared by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ahmedabad, the incident took place in coach B-8 of train number 09037. During the journey, a gold ring reportedly slipped into the toilet and disappeared straight into the drainage pipe and tank system.


Naturally, the passenger believed there was almost no chance of getting it back.


But once the train reached Ahmedabad station, the railway staff decided to actually try retrieving it instead of dismissing the situation as hopeless.


And honestly, the recovery operation sounds straight out of a movie scene nobody would volunteer for.


As per the DRM’s post on X, railway staff members including Senior Section Engineer (C&W) Sanjay Yadav, CTS staff member Virendra Kumar Singh, and other team members spent hours working around filthy pipelines, waste tanks, and unbearable stench just to locate the missing ring.


After a long search through the drainage system, the team finally managed to recover it.


The moment the ring was returned to the passenger reportedly became the highlight of the entire incident. The DRM praised the railway staff for their dedication, honesty, and willingness to go far beyond routine duty just to help a traveller.


The post also described the effort as an example of how Indian Railways protects not just passengers, but also the emotions and trust attached to their belongings.
