Indian couple spends ₹15 lakh to take pet dog from Hyderabad to Australia: 'He is our child'
Love knows no bounds and also, borders, especially when it comes to pet love. The furry little beings are truly humans' angelic children and one Hyderabad couple's moving story has proved it all.
The couple spent nearly ₹15 lakh to bring their pet dog from Hyderabad to Australia and their story, shared on an Instagram account named 'Kahaani of Tales' has struck an emotional chord with numerous viewers online.
The video revealed how the couple got an opportunity to move to Australia and wanted to take their pet dog with them. However, their excitement about relocating quickly turned into anxiety after learning about the Indian neighbour's strict animal import rules.
Australia does not allow the direct import of dogs from India. They must first stay for 6 months days in a rabies-free country. Thus, the couple spent nearly 14 to 16 lakh to bring him from India to Australia.
“Why spend 15 lakhs on a dog? Get new one. We got an opportunity to move from India to Australia. We were all excited until. Australia does not allow the direct import of dogs from India. Dogs from India must stay for at least 6 months in a rabies-free country. That’s 14 to 16 lakh just to bring him from India to Australia, and 6 months in another country,” read the text overlayed on the clip.
While many advised them just to adopt another dog, they remained firm. “Money is replaceable, but love for him isn’t,” added the text. Thus, their dog, Sky, travelled from India to Dubai and stayed in a boarding facility while they waited out the mandatory period.
The couple spent the first month living in Dubai so that Sky could adjust to the city's environment. They described the eventual separation as "one of the hardest things we've ever done."
During the time they were away, they stayed connected with him through daily phone calls, video calls, constant updates and juggled months of worry. “Six months felt like forever. And then, finally, it was time. Sky came to us in Australia. All the waiting, the stress, the fear, and the sacrifices suddenly felt worth it,” the caption said, ending with a powerful line. “Sky isn’t just a dog. He is our child, and we would do it all over again for him.”
The world is filled with animal-lovers who adore their pet family members and they were all motivated and impressed by the couple's efforts to be able to live with their dog in another country.
"Only pet parents will understand how important these fur babies are," commented one on Instagram.
"Your journey is proof that family has no borders," added another.
Another shared the story of their own dog, Goofy who they moved with from India to Canada. "But my boy “Goofy” is irreplaceable.. anything for him. No doubt the journey for them is a tough one .. to be in the cargo hold in a crate for 15+ hours is in itself a tough journey," they wrote in the comments.
