7 wellness lessons to learn from Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba has been dishing out wellness lessons, even before it was a thing! From her ‘Dark Angel’ days to entrepreneurship, she has practically worn wellness as her second name. She started by asking the right questions. What's actually in this product? Is it safe for my baby? How ‘natural’ is this natural product? These questions are indeed what changed the idea of wellness for her.

So what can the rest of us learn from her? Quite a lot. From how she approaches her diet to workouts, Jessica Alba’s wellness journey is less about perfection and more about paying attention. Here are some wellness lessons Jessica Alba swears by.

2/8

Wellness for the right reasons

For Jessica Alba, taking care of her health is not about chasing trends or setting unrealistic standards. Her focus is on feeling energized and being at her best. “As I’ve gotten older and after I became a mom, it became more of a priority to be healthy for the right reasons. It’s more important to have a balanced approach instead of trying to be perfect,” She told People magazine.

3/8

Know your food

Jessica Alba prefers to know what she is eating. And that’s exactly why she loves to have home-cooked meals. Her meals are always curated depending on the season. “In the summer, we do a lot of grilling; in the winter, we do roasting. We always have roasted veggies,” she told Byrdie.

4/8

Organics all the way

Don’t be surprised if you bump into Alba at a farmer’s market. Because she is the kind of girl who loves to source her produce. She is conscious about what food she eats, so organic produce is a big yes in her kitchen. "More organic produce in your life is better than packaged," she told E!.

5/8

Fitness, but fun

Jessica Alba isn’t exactly the one blessed with those washboard abs; she works hard for them. Her workouts are usually a mix of many exercises. “I need high-intensity workouts and hip hop to keep it moving, so I do spin/cycling classes, hot yoga sculpt, cardio-boxing, or work with a trainer and a friend,” she told WH.

6/8

Depriving is not the way forward

While Jessica Alba eats a well-balanced and nutritious diet most of the time, she also indulges in treats once in a while. In fact, she does not go on a guilt-trip for having a cheat meal. “I don’t deprive myself … I have [junk] if I want it. When I do feel that I am depriving myself, I find that I binge. That’s not a balanced way to go about it,” she told People.
She even cooks her own pizza! "One of our favorite ways to entertain is to throw a pizza party. We have a pizza oven in our backyard, so one of our most fun Saturday projects is heating it up (it takes all day) and then going to town with lots of personal-size pizzas and toppings, which enable each guest to top his or her own. Kids love it, but you can also do very elegant topping combinations to please even the pickiest grown-up palate,” she told Women’s Health earlier.

7/8

Hydration is the key

Jessica Alba keeps her body hydrated. Along with adequate water, she also likes to sip her coconut water. "I really love the health benefits that come with coconut water," she told Byrdie. She is, in fact, obsessed with coconut water, "I don't drink a ton of other types of drinks. I drink coffee, tea, and coconut water—that's it."

8/8

Sleep matters

Wondering what’s the secret is to her energy and glowing skin? She ensures to get a Good night’s sleep. Every single day. Restful sleep is crucial for your body and mind. "But really my skin looks best when I sleep—when I'm on vacation, it's perfect," she told Shape.
