Vanilla, Strawberry & Chocolate Movie Review

Story: The movie revolves around a young girl named Teju and her bond with a stray dog at her school.

Review:
Films with an animal as a central character have been plenty. However, when you are working with an animal, a gripping story is equally important. This is also the reason why some films revolving around pets have been hugely popular. A good, albeit old example from the Marathi industry is of Bhalu. However, Vanilla, Strawberry & Chocolate fails to strike a chord.

The film revolves around a stray named Vanilla and a school girl named Teju (Janaki Pathak). While there is ample scope to incorporate finer details of the dog-human relationship, the same hasn't been fleshed out well on the screen. All we get is Teju petting the dog or tending to it. There is no chemistry or drama around the relationship.

On the acting front, Ravi Kale and Rajashri Nikam, who play Teju's parents in the film, deserve a special mention for their performances. As for Janaki, she is sincere but seems little old for the role of a school girl. Our advice is to watch this one completely at your risk.
