Kaliveera Movie Review : Some good stunts, but the story drags on too long

Critic's Rating: 2.0/5
Plot: A seemingly naive tribal youngster is in the city and ends up befriending a con beggar. He is in the pursuit of 'Shiva'. What is his motive? Who is he?

Review: Kaliveera is a story that begins with an animated tale of Indian history, or what the team interprets it as, as the opening credit sequence ends with a proclamation that the lord takes rebirth in every era to take on evils, and the Kaliyug's veera (braveheart) is Kaliveera.

The premise begins on an interesting note, but the narrative that follows takes long to establish. The story tries to bring in some interesting messages eventually, but this only comes too late. The first half is filled with a lot of unpalatable entendres that could have been easily done away with, as also some of the homophobic dialogues.

The highlights of the film are some of the action sequences and the stunts performed by lead actor Ekalavya. His agility needs to be commended and they can draw hoots too. Unfortunately, the story tying up his efforts seems to fall short and Kaliveera does not end up being a patch on the promising tale that the opening credits said it would be.

Kaliveera has some moments, but the story, despite being a little over two hours, seems much longer. Watch it, if you may.
