Here's ballroom dancing to sweep you off your feet!
For all those who detest the disco or the balle-balle genre of dance there is some reprieve in store. If you are the type who swears by the old-world romance of a waltz or a cha-cha-cha, it’s time to rejoice.
Ballrumours Dance Studio, which specializes in teaching a variety of ballroom dances, is here in Noida. The agency holds classes every Sunday from 11.30 am to till 1.00 p.m.

at the Sports and Cultural Club, Sector 15A, Noida. Says Shalini Lambah, a die-hard votary of western ballroom dance, “The classes are open to both the members as well as the non-members at a nominal fee of Rs.800 per month. I think it is a great way to unwind and de-stress.
Old ballroom dances like Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Jive, Swing and the Cha-Cha-Cha are the dances that are taught to those who join the course. The new rage of Latino dances such as the Salsa, Merengue and Lambada, are other attractions.
“The dance lessons have received a fantastic response cutting across all age groups - from 15-year-olds to 70-year-olds. Now we are planning to rope in corporates too, gushes Shalini.
Incidentally, Ballrumours is performing the Viennese Waltz for a show to be held at the club tomorrow (August 23).
As a follow up, there would be a Waltz workshop on August 31 from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. at the club for a fee of Rs.250 per person.
Ballrumours Dance Studio, which has its office in Panchsheel Enclave, is managed by avowed dance aficionados Dr. Lalita Badhwar, gynaecological surgeon, and Aamir Ahmed, an entrepreneur dealing in Persian carpets. Says Dr. Badhwar, “Dancing is a wonderful way of getting exercise and keeping fit. Dance releases endorphins - the natural ‘happiness hormones’ of the body - and one comes away feeling exhilarated and young.

Ahmed is the primary instructor at the studio and is assisted by other instructors. An alumnus of the Delhi School of Music, Ahmed is proficient in Jazz, Tap, Ballroom and Latino. “I started dancing in 1996. All this while I had been nursing the idea of learning dance as I used to feel left out at parties. My business never came in the way of my interests as all the dance classes were reserved for evenings and weekends. Our group has people from varied backgrounds, including CAs and lawyers, reveals the self-styled dance instructor.
Their company has been taking dance classes in R.K. Puram and Vasant Kunj.
So what are you waiting for? Just slip your feet into those dainty dancing shoes and head straight for the ballroom!
