Delaying board exams till August will hamper college admissions, plans to study abroad, Principals
Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has sought detailed suggestions from state governments by May 25 over holding the Class 12 CBSE board exams this year in view of the Covid situation. The minister has asserted that "an informed, collaborative" final call will be taken at the earliest. Meanwhile, the CBSE has proposed different options to hold the examinations, including conducting them only for 'major subjects', either in the usual format or schools holding it for their students in a shorter format and duration. All the state education ministers and secretaries are expected to attend this meeting and share their views with regard to the upcoming examinations. This virtual meeting will take place today at 11.30 AM.

Announcing the meeting, education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said: “The PM has desired that any decision affecting the career of students has to be taken in wide consultations with all state governments & stakeholders.” He said Sunday’s meeting will be chaired by defence minister Rajnath Singh and also attended by Union minister Prakash Javadekar and Smriti Irani.
