NEW DELHI: At least 35 Nepalese pilgrims were injured early Sunday when their bus was struck by a speeding truck in Samastipur district, Bihar, according to police, said a PTI report.
The accident occurred at Musrigharari crossing on National Highway-28, causing the bus to overturn. The pilgrims were en route to Deoghar district in Jharkhand to visit a temple.
Most passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital before being discharged, according to a police officer. However, two individuals with severe injuries were transferred to another hospital for advanced care but were later released, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sanjay Kumar Pandey.
Police arrived on the spot immediately and rescued the passengers and transported them to the hospital, added Pandey.
Eyewitnesses said that the truck collided with the bus from behind.
The injured were identified as residents of Muktipalia village in Bara district, Nepal, said another police official.
