Several areas in the higher reaches of Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Saturday, impacting travel and marking the first snowfall of the season for some popular tourist spots. The snowfall occurred despite above-freezing nighttime temperatures in most locations.

Tourist destination like Gulmarg, Pahalgam receive first snowfall

Pahalgam, a well-known tourist destination, experienced its first snowfall of the season. Other popular spots like Gulmarg ski resort and Sonamarg also saw snowfall. Gurez, the Zojila axis, and other high-altitude areas also reported snow.

Scattered light rain or snow is possible in the higher reaches for two days starting December 2nd. The weather is expected to remain dry from December 4th to 7th, with a chance of light rain or snow returning to isolated high-altitude areas on December 8th.

Srinagar recorded a low of 1 degree Celsius

Overnight temperatures increased across Kashmir due to cloud cover, staying above freezing in most places. Srinagar recorded a low of 1 degree Celsius. Qazigund’s low was minus 0.4 degrees Celsius. Pahalgam, a base camp for the Amarnath Yatra, recorded the Valley’s coldest temperature at minus 1.5 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg’s low was 0.5 degrees Celsius and Kupwara's was minus 3.4 degrees Celsius. Kokernag recorded a low of 3 degrees Celsius.
