'Chargesheet within 3 months': Himanta Sarma says probe in Zubeen Garg case 'on track'; Assam CM to meet Singapore envoy
NEW DELHI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday assured that the chargesheet in the death case of Assamese singer and state icon Zubeen Garg would be submitted within the stipulated three-month period.

"The inquiry is proceeding as expected. We have made arrests one after another, and I am confident the Assam Police will submit the chargesheet on time," Sarma told reporters in Dibrugarh, according to PTI.
"All the accused will be taken to court. Usually, three months are allowed to submit the chargesheet, and we will not take longer than that to ensure the court can deliver justice after the investigation," he added.
Sarma acknowledged some delays, noting that most Assam Association members who were with Garg during his final moments in Singapore have not yet joined the investigation despite summons from the SIT probing the case. He urged the public to remain "patient."

"We are making arrangements to bring them back. Patience is essential—without it, justice cannot be served," the chief minister remarked.
He also announced plans to meet Singapore's ambassador to seek assistance from the Singaporean government.
"I will meet the Singapore ambassador to India later this month. Considering Assam's relationship with the country, I am confident of receiving their help. The Singaporean authorities have already sent the forensic report, so submitting the chargesheet should not be difficult," Sarma noted.
Five people, including the late singer’s police officer cousin Sandipan Garg, manager Siddhartha Sharma, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami, singer Amritprava Mahanta, and North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, have been arrested and are currently in police custody.
