Officials indicated that nearly a dozen agreements and memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed following the meeting, covering areas such as defence, commerce, skill development, healthcare, and supply chains. In Mumbai, the two leaders will jointly launch the India-France Year of Innovation, to be celebrated throughout 2026 in both countries. The opening ceremony for the India-France Year of Innovation and Cultural Commemoration will take place at the Gateway of India on Tuesday evening.
Last week, the Indian government approved a proposal to procure 114 Rafale fighter jets from France under a government-to-government framework. The two nations will also hold their sixth Annual Defence Dialogue in Bengaluru on Tuesday, where they are expected to renew their defence cooperation agreement for another decade. Talks are likely to emphasise closer collaboration in air and maritime domains, in line with the Defence Industrial Roadmap agreed in 2024.
