NEW DELHI: A major power outage hit Gurugram on Thursday after a fire broke out in the main transformer at the 220 KVA power station in Sector-72, disrupting electricity supply across several parts of the city. “A power outage occurred in Gurugram after a fire broke out in the main transformer at the 220 KVA power station in Sector-72, causing electricity disruption in multiple areas of the city,” said Sandeep Chugh, PRO of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), Gurugram. According to officials, seven power substations were affected, leading to outages in sectors 15, 38, 44, 46, 52, 56 and the Maruti 66 KVA power house. Areas from Sector 38 to 57, along with Sector 15 Part-1, Part-2 and Sector 18, remained without electricity. The disruption also impacted Rapid Metro services, which remained suspended for over an hour. Thousands of commuters use the metro network daily.More details awaited.
