FIR filed against ‘Khan Sir’ in coaching centre firing case
PATNA: Tutor Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, could face arrest after Patna police registered an FIR against him in connection with a firing incident at his coaching centre in the Kadamkuan area.
The FIR was lodged at Kadamkuan police station under attempt to murder and Arms Act provisions. Police action followed statements by Khan Sir’s bodyguards, who allegedly told investigators that he had instructed them, “You fire the shots, I will handle the rest.” Based on these statements, police booked him under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case relates to a clash at the coaching centre on June 2, during which videos surfaced showing bodyguards opening fire. Police have already arrested the two guards and sent them to jail. Khan Sir was also questioned during the investigation.
Patna SSP Kartikey K Sharma said, “Further legal action is being initiated in the matter. Currently, the investigation is ongoing. We will take the next step after proper inquiry and investigation.”
Following the FIR, hundreds of students gathered outside Khan Global Studies in support of Khan Sir, raising slogans in his favour. Additional police personnel were deployed at the site and students were later asked to leave the premises.
Khan Sir has maintained that the firing was an act of self-defence. “There was a scuffle going on. I knew police would take time to reach. Police cannot fly to the spot. So the guards fired in self-defence,” he said.
Questioning the criticism of the guards, he added, “Why do we keep guards? So they can protect people when needed. Did the guards fire at anyone?”
In a video shown to students, Khan Sir displayed CCTV footage of the incident and alleged that a person seen taking away a coaching centre guard had not yet been arrested. He claimed attention was being diverted from the main issue.
Holding a book during the address, he said, “I swear on knowledge, firing happened that day.”He also claimed that closure of Khan Global Studies would lead to a sharp rise in coaching fees. “My aim is not to make money,” he told students.
Police said the investigation is continuing and further action will depend on the evidence collected during the probe.
