JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday accepted the resignation of Public Health Engineering Department Minister Ram Singh Vishnoi.

jaipur: rajasthan chief minister ashok gehlot on thursday accepted the resignation of public health engineering department minister ram singh vishnoi pending with him for the last two weeks. vishnoi had sent in his resignationon on april 12 after a raid by revenue intelligence sleuths on the defunct cement factory of his son, paras ram, near bilara town in jodhpur district where a unit of manufacturing tablets of narcotic drugs was unearthed.

an official spokesman said that gehlot forwarded vishnoi''s resignation to governor anshuman singh for acceptence after the minister pressed him to forward his quit notice to the governor to avoid embarrassment to the ruling congress. the main opposition bjp has been spearheading a movement demanding acceptence of the minister''s resignation. while accepting the resignation of vishnoi, gehlot praised him for keeping high tradition of the congress by voluntary resigning. vishnoi, however, defended his son saying that the premise of the closed factory had been let out and the tenants were responsible for the illegal activities there. however, his son is absconding since the raid. a case has been registered against him under the narcotic drugs and psychopathic substances act.
