Ahead of assuming office, Satheesan on Sunday met Cardinal Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis, head of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, and sought his blessings. In a message posted on X, Satheesan said he was committed to inclusive governance and Kerala’s development, adding that the Cardinal’s words were a source of “strength and encouragement”.
The new administration is expected to have a 21-member cabinet, including the chief minister. Congress is likely to retain 11 berths, while ally IUML is expected to get five ministerial positions. Names such as P K Kunhalikutty, K M Shaji and N Shamsuddeen are among those tipped to enter the cabinet, though discussions over the final line-up and portfolio allocation continued till late Sunday.
