How often you should oil your hair in winter
Winters call for dry scalp and brittle hair increasing the issues of frizz, lack of shine, and rough texture. These issues multiply with smog and pollution on the go which seep out the conditioner and moisture from your hair scalp resulting in a flaky and dandruff-filled scalp. Dry hair can be bane and unmanageable. However, it can be tamed with the help of oiling which can lock in the moisture level and can also keep the dandruff and brittle hair issues at bay. But, the question remains how often one should oil their hair and scalp in winter?
Applying oil twice a week in winter is more than enough to pour in the nourishment and lock in the moisture. In winter, our hair seems to see the dry side, therefore prefer drops of warm oil which helps in better penetration into the hair follicles and offers deeper moisturisation with great effect. However, it always depends on your hair length but never forget the scalp and hair tips to seek better results.
Many of us ignore the importance of a clean and healthy scalp. Our scalp produces natural oils to keep itself nourished which reduces because of the dry weather. Therefore, in winter our scalp requires extra care and external nourishment of oil which can be applied either via serum dropper or fingertips which bars the oil to drip down on your face or clog your pores as well which can result in acne.
Also, twice a week oiling is good for hair nourishment but never leave the oil on your hair for more than 10-12 hours. It can clog the pores and attract dust and pollution making the scalp health worse. 3-4 hours of hair nourishment is more than enough. You can steam your hair or wrap a towel soaked in hot water to get a spa experience which allows the hair to absorb the moisture faster, thus giving you a shiny and lustrous glow after the conditioning process.
How to choose the right hair oil?
Understand the properties and benefits of various hair oils and make a wise choice to combat winter hair issues. Consider your hair type and what concerns you have, where you can also blend two hair oils to solve your hair issues. Always opt for a high-quality pure oil that does not have chemicals or any fake fragrances. Know your scalp and hair quality better, ensure that you do not have any allergies or irritation, and then make a final decision.
