Why should castor oil be the base of all hair oils?

Castor oil is the best ‘carrier’ oil in the world

Castor oil has a yellow odourless look and smell with a thick consistency which is made from seeds of the castor plant. It is prepared from the plant’s seeds and has been used in the beauty business for decades. Castor oil has a high level of ricinoleic acid and is thus more thick and fatty in comparison to other oils. But, it provides maximum moisturisation and inflammatory skin, making it safe for you. We always recommend using any other oil with castor oil to keep a balance of consistency, but little do we know that for best results, castor oil is mainly used as a strong and healthy base and shreds out maximum results when mixed with any other hair oil in the market.

Moisturises the hair

People dealing with extremely brittle and dry hair can opt to start applying castor oil as it nourishes your hair and provides a strong moisturising effect. Castor oil acts as a natural emollient and easily traps the moisture in hair strands making them best for winters as they help in keeping dandruff at bay with a moisturised and healthy scalp.

Strengthen the hair strands

Castor oil promotes strong locks because of its high content of omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids which strengthens the hair shaft and prevents the strands from breaking. The oil also prevents frizzy hair and helps you prevent your tresses from thinning. Ultimate moisturised and thick hair is always the goal of castor oil and is also applied on eyebrows and eyelashes for better growth.

Adding lustre

Since castor oil is a natural emollient, it is great for dry and frizzy hair. Castor oil gives you a smoother and finer appearance, locking in the moisture level to prevent your hair from turning all frizzy and messy. However, keep a decent consistency and witness the change in just a few weeks.

Has anti-inflammatory properties

If you’re dealing with issues related to dandruff and itchiness on your scalp, then castor oil should be by your side. Rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, it also has antifungal properties which instantly get rid of dandruff and flaky skin. This also happens because of castor oil’s heavy consistency, especially due to ricinoleic acid.

Why is it always used as a base?

Because of its heavy consistency people prefer diluting it with another oil. But, keeping the base of castor oil would assure you the points of heavy moisturising while bidding goodbye to dandruff issues, hair thinning problems, and also problems of inflammation on the scalp. However, keep a sober consistency and balance, and try not to take too much castor oil as it would make your hair look greasy.
