Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman is an author whose imagination has both frightend and facinated the world. His books are fantasy, horror and even the books set in familiar places have an element of magic in them. His writing has the timeless feel of a fairy tale or a myth. He's written for adults and children, TV and novels, and thus gathered a huge fanbase. Many of his works have been adapted for screen, as a movie or webseries. Here are some books you must read before you watch.

Good Omens

This novel from 1990 is gaining popularity again because a mini series based on it just released. It was written not only by Neil but also by Terry Pratchett. The story follow an angel and a demon working together to stop the apocalypse. It's as much a comedy as an adventure and the conversations between the two are both funny and thought provoking.

The Graveyard Book

Though it was written for children, this ghostly book is a delight for all ages. It follows the story of a young boy who grew up in a graveyard and understands the meaning of life despite being raised by ghosts and other magical creatures. The boy's parent's were murdered and the murderer is looking for him, which makes the fight for his life more desperate. The movie is still in production.

 Stardust

This book is like a fairy story for adults. It starts in a village called Wall, which is named so as it is in the boundary between two worlds. There is a man Tristran Thorn who has fallen in love with Victoria Forester and to win her hand, he sets on a quest to retrieve a fallen star for her. The adventures he goes through in the worlds are fantastic and brilliant, written with the timeless style of Gaiman that just draws you in. This has been adapted into a movie.
