The fascination grew serious and soon he was seen adding frills to buffet tables in Mumbai's Taj Mahal Hotel as a young graduate. In a frank memoir of his life as one of India's most renowned designers, Rodricks stitches together the worries and courage he underwent to give India an understanding of eco-friendly clothing and resort wear, much before these words were even coined. From spending a childhood in the cramped chawls of Bombay, Wendell takes you to his life in Muscat and glorious feasts in Paris, sprinkling amusing anecdotes, ironic insights alongside startling revelations from the world of fashion. In confident and elaborate strokes he discusses the love of his life, Jerome Marrell, signing a civil union and bringing the Goan kunbi sari back to life. Wendell Rodricks's 'The Green Room' is perfectly seasoned with a bit of all ingredients - mischievous gossips, broody bores, and the eccentric neurotics.
