Louis Vuitton drops a cruise-shaped pop-up

Louis Vuitton is taking its love for travel to the next level — literally. The brand just unveiled The Louis, a massive, cruise-shaped concept store right in the heart of Shanghai. It’s part pop-up, part art installation, and all kinds of fabulous. Docked at the HKRI Taikoo Hui shopping plaza, this 30-meter-tall structure looks like a cross between a luxury cruise ship and a fashion museum.

Trunks on deck: The design that turns heads

Wrapped in a shimmering metallic LV monogram, the "ship" features an anchor in the shape of the LV logo and upper levels designed to look like the brand’s iconic travel trunks - stacked and styled to perfection. It’s a creative nod to the brand’s heritage and to Shanghai’s port city roots.

An ode to travel and Shanghai’s port culture

The concept celebrates Louis Vuitton’s long-standing love affair with travel. According to LV’s in-house design team, the boat shape is a tribute to Shanghai’s legacy as the “Gateway to the East” and to the brand’s own history of crafting luxury trunks for long voyages. It's a beautiful fusion of local culture and global luxury.

Inside: Fashion, art and trunks everywhere

Step inside and you’ll find the Trunkscape - an immersive space filled with LV trunks set against ever-changing nature scenes. The journey continues with Visionary Journeys, a thematic exhibit designed by architect Shohei Shigematsu and the Louis Vuitton team. Spread across 1,200 square meters, it features a library, a trunk-making workshop, fashion and perfume displays, and even LV’s famous trophy trunks.

Shop, sip, snap: All under one roof

No luxury experience is complete without shopping and this pop-up has it covered. The gift shop offers an exclusive range of leather goods, accessories, shoes, and travel pieces. On the third floor, Le Café Louis Vuitton invites visitors to relax in a cruise ship-inspired setting, surrounded by warm woods, soft lighting, and trunk-themed interiors. It’s basically the most stylish coffee break ever.

6/6

Open now and free to visit

The Louis opened to the public on June 28 and it’s completely free to explore. Whether you're into fashion, design, or just want to experience one of the coolest pop-ups in the city, this one’s worth a visit. LV’s been known to turn buildings into art but this floating fantasy might be their most jaw-dropping one yet.
