Menswear become more experimental

The recently concluded Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI witnessed menswear in a new light. It was more fluid than ever and more experimental than one could have ever imagined. The designers surely pushed the fashion envelop on how they dress up men and the clothes were hands down drool worthy. Take a look at our favourite menswear looks from the fashion week this season.

2/6

Bloni

The collection featured materially and formally distinct ideas—ranging from rubber cut in sleek and geometric proportions, dramatic and sculptural silhouettes, heat-sensitive surfaces that change colours based on body heat, crochet, tie-dye, handwoven denim, regenerated textiles with marine nylon and metal mesh, all made with handcrafted finesse.

3/6

Rajesh Pratap Singh

The silhouettes comprised exaggerated shoulders with cropped boleros, cocoon jackets, structured jumpsuits and saree drape dresses. Resin coated khadi jackets with suture seam details, Stainless steel juxtaposed with khadi, asymmetricity, iridescent woven metallic fabrics, a hoodie borelo, and the designers signature engineered pleated jackets.

4/6

Amit Aggarwal

The collection was all about sheared fabrics that interacted with light and shadows, micro hemlines that morphed into party-ready, rubber corded bodices, and subtly fetishistic short dresses that underlined the human body. They also featured everything from embroidered jackets in structured polymer to asymmetrically hand-corded tuxedo sets that were cut with the interjection of a classic man suit with deeply metallic and fluid forms.

5/6

Gaurav Gupta

A celebration of the cosmic energy, the collection encapsulated the meteoric sensibility through crystal burst embroideries, a celestial colour palette and astronomical construction. Radiating iridescence in the night light, ensembles were adorned with thousands of crystals scattered on bare skin like shooting stars.

6/6

Abhishek Sharma

Projecting an imagery of bold royalty, ensembles were visualised in stunning bright hues, which had a contrasting touch with fine gold metal thread and amazing hand embroidery. With so grand a visual presentation it was but natural that Abhishek ensured the colours he worked with matched the mood of the apparel. Bursts of rich gold shimmered with dazzling green, pretty rose pink, sultry midnight blue, vibrant orange and ended with the ever-popular Indian red.
