5 winter style tips for petite women

For the short and slim girlies, fashion is more of an ongoing experiment than most understand. Trying out outfits and pairings only to realise they don't work on you, is a little disheartening. It makes styling daily fits boring and following fashion trends even more difficult, especially during the winter season. However, if you focus on your body type and what works best for it then fashion during winters could be something you look forward to.

2/8

The petite woman

A petite frame typically refers to a height of 5 feet 4 inches or under. With this height, you could have any shape or size, curvy, athletic or pear-shaped. For women with this body type, most clothes don't fit with the waist hitting the wrong spot, sleeves being too long and hems drowning the figure. Thus, their confidence in styling themselves and showing off their figure remains undermined. But if you figure out how to dress right, fashion could actually become your cup of tea. Here are 5 winter style tips for petite women.

3/8

Lines, vertical lines

Vertical lines create the illusion of height, making them a must-have in our winter arsenal. They elongate the frame, making you appear taller and more slender. Be it striped shirts or dresses with vertical detailing, vertical lines can be your hidden trick to acing winter in style.

4/8

Hop around hemlines

The length of your fits matters when you have a petite frame as they are a deciding factor in how tall you appear. For skirts and dresses the lengths should be just above the knee, whereas, jeans and pants can end just above the ankles. This has a more lengthening effect on your frame, elongating your structure.

5/8

High waists and V-necks

High-waisted bottoms significantly change the proportional look of your body, making your lower half appear longer. Thus, by raising the waistline, you give the illusion of a taller appearance. Add to this, a V-neckline top and you are good to go. V-necks make the neck look longer and move the visual of the outfit vertically, thus creating an elongated silhouette.

6/8

Laser on layers

For women with petite frames, oversized clothes are a big no. Try wearing fit clothes that highlight your figure. Additionally, it is vital to keep your proportions in mind. Choose lighter and more fitted layers and make sure that the bulk of each layer complements rather than competes with one another.

7/8

Moving monochrome

Monochrome isn't just an experimentation with silhouettes and garments, it's also a play on visuals. Dressing in one colour from head to toe streamlines your figure and increases your length vertically. Thus, making you appear taller. Go for different tones of the same colour and even try experimenting with various textures to add depth to your fit.

Winter fashion arc

This winter can be all yours, petite girls. Only if you follow these tips and curate fits that you can strut confidently in while showing off not only your amazing fashion style but also that toned figure!
