What happens when you overeat healthy foods?

The concept of eating healthy foods is something that has had its fair share of mysticism. So much of information is displayed when we look for healthy foods, but here is the catch. Did you know, that some of these so-called ‘healthy food’ can also pose a risk when taken in large quantities? Well, this is what we are dealing with today. Ghee

Ghee has been called for ages as the best form of fat that one can consume daily in their diet. In fact, several nutritionists also vouch for the various health benefits of ghee, when consumed daily. However, most people agree to the fact that it should be taken in moderation. If a person overdoes it, then it can actually increase the cholesterol levels of the body as it is loaded with saturated fats. When consumed in access, it can lead to clogged arteries that can lead to a heart attack even.

Water

It is a basic necessity and the one thing that can control a lot of problems in our body. However, the one thing that most people do not know about water is when you consume too much of it, water can give a shock to the kidneys. This means, one can feel nauseous and dizziness when they have too much of it. According to a study published in the journal Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, over-drinking H2O can flush out all the electrolytes, which can even cause death.

Almonds

Almonds are known to be rich in monounsaturated fats, which can help improve cholesterol while decreasing the risk of heart disease, according to the American Heart Association. However, foods with healthy fats are only good when eaten in moderation, but when overeaten, they can quickly increase their weight as they are loaded with calories.

Dark Chocolate

Not only is dark chocolate at the top of the heart-healthy foods list, but it can also help flatten belly fat as well as improve digestion. Watching the portion size while consuming dark chocolate is imperative since more isn’t better when it comes to your intake of dark chocolate. Excess consumption of dark chocolate leads to an increased urge to urinate, a faster heartbeat as well as sleeplessness. Thus it is recommended that one should not over-indulge in this treat.

Cruciferous Vegetables

Most of cruciferous vegetables are linked with several health benefits and one could hardly imagine that they can also pose a risk. However, they are loaded with a compound ‘thiocyanates’, and thus when someone consumes too much of these vegetables, they interfere with the body’s ability to absorb iodine which leads to ‘hypothyroidism’. This can lead to further weight gain, constipation or low energy levels.

Garlic

It is the most effective herb when it comes to heart and blood ailments. It is the best remedy to control high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, osteoarthritis and what not! But, did you know, that consuming too much garlic can also pose a threat? Well, if experts are to be believed, over-consuming garlic can lead to issues like diarrhoea, heartburn, and liver toxicity while aggravating vaginal yeast infection and bleeding.
