Claims of rats in laddoo trays of Siddhivinayak temple: A conspiracy or reality?
After the infamous incident of beef found in Tirupati Laddoos, Siddhivinayak temple also faced a backlash on the internet after a viral video showed rats in a tray of laddoos, which left netizens furious and triggered massive anger among the masses. This viral video left the temple trust furious, leading to a DCP-level inquiry. Here’s all you need to know about the controversy and is it conspiracy or a reality.
About the video
In the video, rodents can be seen under the packets of laddoos, inside a blue plastic tray with prasad. The video claims that the video is of the Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi. While the video has sparked concerns about hygiene, Sada Sarvankar, president of the temple trust called it “a conspiracy against Hindu temples”.
As per the reports in a digital daily, it was mentioned that in conversation with the media, Sarvankar said, “It seems like those rats were kept in a plastic bag by someone and placed in the tray with the prasad of ladoos. We have asked for a committee at the DCP level to find out if the location of the video was from the temple premises. The place where we make our ladoos is super-hygienic, and the site in the video doesn’t seem clean.”
Sarvankar further added that he felt the incident was like a conspiracy to malign the temple trust’s name. “What other reason and motive could there be than to tarnish the name of this famous Hindu temple?” he said. “Do rats go on their own and place themselves in a plastic bag? And if they are in a bag, how did they enter the container? The bag was deliberately and strategically placed inside the blue tray.”
According to another leading daily, the official statement by Sarvankar, “We will check the CCTV, and an officer of DCP rank will be appointed to conduct an inquiry. Action will be taken against whoever is found guilty,” said. He stated that the temple takes all necessary measures to ensure the prasad is prepared in a hygienic environment.
Apart from that, Veena Patil, CEO of the Siddhivinayak temple trust shared that the inquiry details will be shared with the media after the investigation was completed, and whoever was involved in the desecration of the prasad would not be spared. The claims of the viral video were denied by the temple association Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust (SSGT) and further probe is in progress.
