Interesting ways of making Gulab Jamun

The Holi celebration is incomplete without sweets and when it comes to homemade sweets for the festival, Gulab Jamun is one of the most popular dishes that people often make with ready-to-use mixes. But, did you know there are many alternatives present in your kitchen that can be used to make a healthier version of Gulab Jamun? Yes, you read it right! Take a look at these seven smart ways of making Gulab Jamun at home and surprise your loved ones.

2/9

Sweet Potato Gulab Jamun

For this version of Gulab Jamun, you need to boil and mash sweet potatoes, mix with refined flour and a little ghee, to knead a soft dough. Shape the dough into mini balls, and make sure that there are no cracks. Deep-fry in neutral oil and then dip in sugar syrup for a unique, naturally sweet taste.

3/9

Biscuit Gulab Jamun

This one is loved by kids. To make it, you need to crush cashew cookies into powder and combine with milk to knead a soft dough. Shape into small smooth balls, deep-fry in oil and then soak in saffron and cardamom-infused sugar syrup. Enjoy!

4/9

Chhena Gulab Jamun

This is one of the most popular varieties. To make it, prepare chhena at home and mash it well to make it smooth and velvety. To this, add refined flour & baking soda and knead a dough. Shape into small smooth balls and later deep-fry. Lastly, soak in sugar syrup and your soft, melt-in-the-mouth Gulab Jamuns are ready.

5/9

Sooji Gulab Jamun

For this version of Gulab Jamun, roast sooji and then cook it in milk until soft. Also, add a little ghee and then mix into a soft dough. Roll out small smooth balls, deep-fry them in neutral oil and soak them in sugar syrup.

6/9

Milk Powder Gulab Jamun

To make this variation, mix milk powder, refined flour, baking soda, and ghee into a soft dough. Shape them into balls, then deep-fry on medium heat and soak in saffron-infused sugar syrup.

7/9

Leftover Roti Gulab Jamun

As the name suggests, it is made with leftover rotis. All you need to do is grind leftover rotis into a powder. Mix with milk and a little sugar to make a dough. Now, shape them into balls, deep-fry them, and lastly dip them in warm sugar syrup.

8/9

Bread Gulab Jamun

This is one of the most popular versions of gulab jamun and to make it, blend bread slices into fine crumbs, add them to milk, and knead a soft dough. Next, roll them into balls and deep-fry until golden brown. Lastly, soak them in sugar syrup and enjoy with a topping of almond flakes.

Note

For sugar syrup, always use sugar and water in the same ratio, and don't forget to add cardamom powder and saffron strands to add aroma and colour to it.
