Miraculous health benefits of Oregano oil

Oregano oil is derived from the shoots and leaves of the oregano plant, which is a native to Europe, Asia, and Mediterranean region. It is extracted through the process of steam distillation. This essential oil has proved to be useful in curing various health conditions due to its antibacterial, antifungal, antiallergic properties.

Oregano is a Greek word which comes from ‘oros’ and ‘ganos’, which means joy of the mountain. Scientifically known as Origanum Vulgare, the oregano plant belongs to the mint family and has many medicinal properties which are further squeezed down in the oil.

Components of Oregano Oil

Enriched with goodness of nature, oregano oil has components like Carvacrol, a phenol which contain healing and anti- tumor properties. Thymol, an antifungal that protects the body from toxins and boosts the immune system. It also has Rosmarinic acid, an antioxidant and antihistamine which reduces swelling during allergic reactions. Terpenes contains antibacterial properties. Naringin restricts the growth of cancer cells and boosts the antioxidants of the oil and Beta- caryophyllin with its anti- inflammatory properties.

Prevents Bacterial Infections

Oregano oil has antibacterial properties, which prevent infections in the body. It fights against bacterial infections like typhoid, cholera, sores, etc; Due to the presence of high levels of Carvacrol. It can also cure common cold and flu. You can just add a few drops of the oil in your steam water and inhale it for best results.

Antifungal

Fungi are responsible for some of the most dreadful infections, both internal and external which could turn fatal if not treated timely. It is proven highly effective in the treatment of Candidiasis which is an infection caused by yeasts. Other infections that can be cured using oregano oils are athlete's foot, toenail fungus.

Cures Respiratory Infections

It has proved helpful in treating certain respiratory conditions cough and bronchitis wherein mucus and phlegm accumulates in the respiratory tract and causes discomfort. It also alleviates sinus infections.

It is beneficial to women who have irregular periods as it is an emmenagogue which means it stimulates the menstrual flow. Oregano oil also relieves pain during the periods. Just add 2-3 drops of the oil in chamomile tea and its effective for menstrual cramps.
